Girl Scouts visit the Courthouse

Girl Scouts visit with Judge Clement on April 26, 2014

On April 26, 2014, members of Belle Chasse Primary Junior Troop 41431 and Daisy Troop 41192 visited the Belle Chasse Courthouse and met with Judge Michael Clement and other elected officials in order to complete their badge called “Inside Government”.  They are required to explore laws that affect them every day, meet people who work in government and learn to be active in the government.  Judge Clement spoke with the troop members about the 3 branches of government and how his office fits into this category.  In addition, Judge Clement explained the different sections of his office: Civil, Criminal and Juvenile court divisions.  He described in more detail the Department of Youth and Family Services and how that office can assist families and children.  Judge Clement then answered a variety of questions asked by the troop members concerning different types of crimes and punishments.

Members of Junior Troop 41431 include Abigail Revere, Gabrielle Maus and Taylor Sledge.  Brennan Revere of Daisy Troop 41192 was also present.
